Presenter: Dr Stephan Tait

Stephan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Water and Environmental Biotechnology (ACWEB), The University of Queensland (UQ).

Stephan is a national research leader at ACWEB in the areas of industrial and agricultural wastewater treatment and waste resource recovery technologies and biogas from agricultural waste. He has consistently developed from scratch and led industry-oriented multi-disciplinary research projects, in total valued at over A$4.4M. He regularly consults to industry whilst in academic/research roles. National reputation has been evidenced by invited memberships onto sector environmental advisory panels, consulting to the Commonwealth Government during Emissions Reduction Fund legislation development, and co-authoring industry code of practice and national environmental planning and design guidelines.

Stephan has to date contributed technical expertise towards the delivery of several large wastewater infrastructure projects, including in design and construct (D&C), and engineering, procurement, construction, management (EPCM) delivery teams, both across Australia and in Hong Kong. He is a chartered engineer, a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ), and a nationally accredited agricultural wastewater treatment systems designer.

Stephan is a highly effective teacher, communicator and course facilitator, having prepared and delivered several industry professional development courses in the wastewater sector. He is particularly motivated to translate research and innovation into practical and economical outcomes for industry, and to proactively weave innovation into the courses that he delivers.
